Stacking 816 on 828

The 411 was specifically designed for use in an Infinite Baffle cabinet, and will not work in a ported box.

If you decide on keeping the 411 and build enclosures. it would be nice to build them in the same proportion as the the 828. This way you can put the 828 on top. This will sound better.

I ran the specs of the 411 and it gives me recommended sealed of 3 ft3.

If your 828 are 29".75 wide by 24" deep.
then your sealed enclosure would be 29".75W by 24"D
by 24" High = 8.2 ft3.

I disagree there is any advantage to having the sub under the 828- unless the crossover frequency is too high. At 100 hz or so the sub can be centered without a problem.
I'm not sure where the crossover becomes a problem, I think around 110 hz or a little higher, GM can probably tell us.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">It all depends on the usage. If it's for a small concert hall why not. The multicell horn can cover the front row and the back row better that way.

I've used all kinds of configuations depending on venues.
5000 seats : FLY
400 seats : Stack on stage .Space saving .Better sound distribution
Movies: Adjusted properly to screen dimension relative to auditorium.
Lounge: Depends if a 100 people .Just put them on the floor.

Valid point- but if you re-read the thread he said the 816 and 828 put the horns too high- 2 of the 828 size boxes will be worse for him.

along the same lines..if the unnulled portion behind the horn flares was sealead and adjusted to 3 cu ft..wouldnt the horn flares of a 828 project strong bass signals..if it were annulled and sealed?

sorry..refering to the 411 dynamic force .. wish i had horn calc..and a tutor to learn to use it. anyone know if horn calc has the classic horns in the library? the 210 the 817, 828?
